FAQ
CAN I SHIP MY BOW ?
Customers are welcome to ship their bows from anywhere in the country for restringing and retuning. Please note that you are responsible for all shipping costs to and from Bergy Bowsmith.
For the most cost-effective option, we recommend getting a bow box from your local pro shop and using www.pirateship.com to ship. This typically costs around $25–$30.
⚠️ Important: Do not ship your bow in a hard bow case. Shipping in a case can cost up to $100 or more, and any difference in shipping cost will need to be covered by the customer.

What should I do if my broadheads do not hit exactly with my fieldtips when I receive my bow?
My tuning method is built around efficiency and forgiveness. I always set bows down the center because it provides the most consistent and forgiving starting point. While I can’t guarantee every single setup will behave identically, this approach ensures the widest margin for accuracy across different shooters and shooting styles.
If you ever notice issues, don’t be alarmed. The first step is to reach out—I’ll help determine if it’s a form issue. If it’s not, it’s perfectly fine to adjust your rest a few clicks. Center shot allows for about a three-click variance in either direction and still keeps you aligned down the middle of the bow. This doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I’ll work with you to resolve it quickly.
To maximize performance, once your arrows are cut and fletched you must group tune them. Group tuning means shooting at a distance where you know you can hold tight groups, and running each arrow through. I typically shoot four arrows at a time. If one consistently impacts outside the group, rotate the nock—to the next vane (3-fletch) or the next gap (4-fletch)—and shoot again. Repeat until every arrow groups together.
This process aligns all the spines so they leave the bow the same way every time, which is critical for achieving perfect broadhead flight.
If you run into any questions while working through this, don’t hesitate to contact me. I may not reply instantly, but you’ll always get a same-day solution to keep you shooting your best.
What string maintenance is required?
Do not wax these strings. They are designed to be waxless and abrasion-resistant. Applying wax will break down the chemical compound built into the fibers. These strings require no maintenance—just shoot and let them perform.
After installation, you may need to re-sight your bow, so always start shooting at a close distance and work your way back gradually.
Do you offer refunds?
All sales are final, and refunds are not offered for services already provided, as outlined in the disclaimer section. That said, I stand firmly behind the quality of my work and will take every necessary step to address and resolve any issues should they arise. To date, I’ve never had a problem, and I’m confident you’ll be satisfied with the results.
Isnt tuning a bow shooter specific?
The 3rd axis is always shooter-specific—but the tuning process is not in my opinion. In my experience, tuning a bow down the center is the most forgiving setup. This approach allows multiple shooters, each with slightly different grips, to group broadheads and field points together at longer distances like 50 or 60 yards.
Now, the groups may land slightly different for each person (one 2 inches left, another 2 inches right, and another in the middle), but the important part is they all group consistently—even if the paper tears look different. It’s a unique situation that doesn’t always make sense on paper, but it works.
My goal is to set everything down the center. Once you get your bow back, I always provide follow-up support. If you run into any odd issues, most of the time a small grip adjustment solves it almost immediately. In fact, 9 out of 10 shooters I work with don’t apply enough heel pressure in their grip hand or shoot with open fingers. Those two grip habits are the main reason bows need to be tuned out of center. Correct them, and I can get anyone shooting a bullet hole.
